JC Cosmo Build-Up

Now to start on the engine bay. I have decided that I will leave the engine mods to a minimum as I don't want to wreck the cars whisper quiet ride. So I thought I'd rip off every bit of visable alloy bit and get em polished! The finished product is superb! Mind you it was a real headache trying to put everything back together. This is what the engine bay looked like before my polishing exercise. There are so many vacuum lines and wires on the motor so I video'ed the whole engine before I started. Most things weren't too difficult to take off except for the pipe coming off the turbos. I had to take half the engine apart to get that bloody thing off. |
OK all done! I started this mini-project on the monday night and the whole thing was complete and back together on Saturday night just in time for a cruise to Bondi. The polishing came out superb. If you live in Sydney and you want a good polisher at a great price, well then let me know! Funny thing was when I was putting it all back together, the hardest pipe to get off was the easiest to get on. The hardest part was to get the stupid mazda pipe clamps open again to put on the pipes. I had a bad day on the Saturday when I was putting it all together, I dropped one of the newly polished pipes on the ground and put a big mark on it right where you see it too, and then when I was putting the very last thing on the motor, the altenator, I arced the end of the socket handle on the intercooler pipe and put another mark on there! A lot swearing took place! |

I want to thank my good friend Darrin Ray who helped me put all the polished bits back on the car. I managed to take all the parts off the car myself but there was no way that I was going to get it all back on by myself. Darrin has a genuine HB Cosmo with the original 12A Turbo fitted. He has my old 5 spoke Mag Wheels now and is nearing completion of his build. When it is ready I will be featuring it on 3rotor.com |
