JC Cosmo Build-Up

| About a year ago I started
searching on the net for Japanese companies that manufacture aftermarket car accessories
for the JC Cosmo. It has been like searching for a needle in a hay stack, but after
several months of looking I found a company called "FEED" (Fujita Engineering
& Evolution Development). I managed to get a hold of their catalogue and was excited
to see that they offered some nice little goodies such as factory replacement
intercoolers, ECU Chips, Injectors, Boost Controllers, Exhaust Systems etc. A friend of mine whom I work with can speak Japanese and English, so I asked him to translate for me and I called FEED directly in Japan for some prices. The prices are very expensive, for example the replacement intercooler is over $3000 AUS and the Exhaust System is also over $3000 AUS. I decided I would order the full stainless exhaust system as this as been designed for the car and dynoed etc so it will be tuned especially for the JC.

| I called JC Racing in Queensland
again and they placed an order for me. It took around 3 weeks and it was here!. It was
flown from Japan and with Freight costs and Customs Duty it came to $4500 AUS. Very
expensive, but did it look beautiful. The next step was to see just how good this exhaust would fit. After pulling the old factory system off, this system just went straight in its place. It couldn't have been easier. All the orginal mounting brackets were used and all gaskets and bolts etc were supplied with the system. I was very impressed.

| One thing that was in my mind
while installing the exhaust was the noise! The last thing I wanted was a real droning
exhaust note. The real test was when I finally started it up! It was absolutely perfect. Not too loud and not too quiet. A nice 3rotor rumble eminated from the highly polished mufflers. I couldn't wait to get it on the road to see what performance gains the system as made. After a couple minutes of cruising I gave it a bit and couldn't believe just how much more HP it has unleashed. It feels like at least 60-70hp increase over the factory system. Something also interesting to note is that the new exhaust system is 26kg lighter than the factory system. |
