| I then spent the next three
months searching for someone who could technically perform the work and whom I could
trust. At the same time I was looking for someone that could carry out the panel and paint. That proved difficult also and it wasn't until I finally went to Mazda themselves and asked who did their paint jobs that I found the right people. Finally I had found the people whom I wanted to do the work. They were:
In May 1994 I asked all four parties to meet with me to discuss the work that I required. I had prepared a written document outlining exactly what was required and the time frames in which I wanted it done in. From memory, the time frame I had requested was three months. That was a slight miscalculation as it is still not finished more than 2 years later. It was agreed that the mechanical work would start first so that any engine bay modifications could be done before painting. I had removed the original 12A Turbo engine myself before delivering the car to the Rotary Engine Specialists workshop. The first thing to happen was the purchase of the 20B Triple Rotor Twin Turbo engine. Once RES took delivery of this work took place to see if the engine would fit. Modifications had to be done to fit the motor to the car.
It took around five months from the day the car was dropped into RES before it was ready for panel & paint. The engine at this time was fitted and planning made for the rest of the work after completion of panel & paint.
The Engine was removed and the car was transported to Don Beynon Panelbeaters in November 1994. |
